Choosing a Domain Name for Your Website

Choosing a Domain Name for Your Website

It may seem strange that a little thing that sits way up in your browser's address bar can have such a big impact on your website, but it really can. That word or phrase that you're chosen to represent your website can make a world of difference in how the search engines see you and also how clients see you.

"Do people realize that their domain name might be the biggest asset they actually have?" ~Tamara Kajari, Vrytek

Search engines are looking for keywords. Not only do they look through your content for keywords, they look elsewhere too. One of the places they look is your domain name. If your website sells computer parts and your domain name is mikesplace.com, the search engine isn't going to take you as seriously as if your domain name was mikescomputerparts.org. Get the picture?

Also, your domain name should be easy to remember, for your client's sake. If your domain name is something like, 25kcompudin7rr45.com people are not going to take the time to remember what it means and type it into their browser to come visit you. It may mean something to you, but not to them.
